Why I'm standing

I am standing because affordable rates are important to me, and our whānau deserve fairness and transparency. A 100% rubbish increase is not okay, especially when people are already struggling with rising costs. Developers must take responsibility for the infrastructure they need, instead of leaving ratepayers to carry the burden. I want to bring strong, experienced and principled representation to council so our communities have a real voice at the table.

About me

I bring over 25 years of experience as a legal advisor, governance expert and advocate, with a strong track record of standing up for fairness and accountability. I am deeply connected to my community through marae and local forums, and I understand both tikanga and the law. I am experienced, can hit the ground running, and will serve with integrity, ensuring our communities have a principled and effective voice at council.

My priorities
  1. Cap rates to inflation so whānau are not kicked out of their homes for unpaid, unaffordable rates.
  2. Expand council housing and enable granny flats as practical steps to give whānau secure homes.
  3. Protect wetlands and waterways to prevent flooding, build resilience and uphold kaitiakitanga.
