Why I'm standing

I've lived in Tamahere-Woodlands for 24 years, raised a family here, and I want to help our community to retain and enhance the country/village character of our area. I want to continue to work with the many local groups that strive in different ways to make Tamahere-Woodlands such an attractive place to live. I also want to ensure our community is well-informed, and help to develop genuine dialogue to support democratically-driven council decisions.

About me

I offer experience, energy and strong local commitment. As a sitting councillor, and a business communications professional who has worked inside council too, I've a good understanding of council's business and processes. I have 12 years' experience in public sector governance, including 6 years on the Waikato District Health Board working to improve health services for our rural communities. I'm an active community member of St Stephen's Tamahere - home of the Tamahere Country Market.

My priorities
  1. Limit general rates rises to 3% in 2026, then to 2.5% and less as budgeted in the long term plan.
  2. Ensure local aspirations, including via blueprints, are properly reflected in council's policies and plans.
  3. Champion initiatives to improve council's responsiveness and report regularly to local committees.
