Waitara Community Board

The Waitara Community Board represents your local community and advocates to New Plymouth District Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of five members: four members elected by voters, and one member from the New Plymouth District Council.  This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Waitara Community Board election.

Why I'm standing

I love Waitara as the best place to live in Taranaki. I am motivated by bringing people together to decide and own their future. I am not satisfied that we are there yet. There is more to do and achieve together. We are better together reaching our targets, supporting each other and giving others the room to articulate what they want to see for themselves and their family.

About me

I have a proven history of working with a wide group of people. I enjoy building teams so much more can be achieved. As chair of the community board, I support bringing groups to our table so we can build a vision of a future community together. I enjoy empowering people to have a vision regardless of mine so that "All together we are better."

My priorities
  1. See current projects completed and secure funding for new projects.
  2. See completion of the spatial plan for Waitara and a spatial plan for the wider district.
  3. Reject reduced council projects as a way to bring rate relief and instead work hard to get value.
