The Western Bay of Plenty District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of nine councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). three councillors will be elected from the Katikati-Waihī Beach ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.     Support community groups and events in a way that leverages local passion and expertise to tap other funding agencies, not just council.

  • Support Kati Kati's local promotion agency which promotes cultural festivals and is excellent.

    Support sporting facilities as mentioned previously and withhold comment on alcohol issues due to 25 years of abstinence, but will address it when it arises.

    Support the establishment of new local netball courts and a new playground at sports grounds.
