Mayor of Westland
The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the district and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Why I'm standing
I believe our council has lost sight of the ability of ratepayers to pay and council has forgotten it should be all about people, people, people.
About me
I have a no-nonsense approach and am straight to the point, sometimes too straight; however, I get results.
My priorities
- Introduce a rate reduction to 5% or the rate of inflation.
- Get council back to just doing its core functions as nice to haves are just that.
- Use council staff rather than expensive consultants as we just cannot afford it.
