Coromandel electorate
Coromandel covers the Coromandel peninsula, the Hauraki district, and some of the Bay of Plenty, finishing at the edge of Tauranga. Its main population centres include towns such as Thames, Waihi, and Katikati. National’s Scott Simpson has held the electorate since 2011, being re-elected in 2023 with a margin of 24,914 votes. National also won the party vote in 2023 with 43% of the vote, followed by Labour on 20%. The seat has only ever been held by National in the modern era, barring a three year stint where former Green Party leader Jeanette Fitzsimon eked out a 200-vote victory (Labour did not campaign for the electorate vote that year).
