East Coast Bays electorate

East Coast Bays covers the north east areas of Auckland city, covering suburbs such as Albany, Pinehill, and Lucas Creek. It has been held by National’s Erica Stanford since 2017, who won re-election in 2023 with a margin of 27,687 votes. National won a majority of the party vote in 2023 with 58%, while Labour was a distant second at 14%. The electorate was one of the few electorates to be won by a third party in the pre-MPP era, with Social Credit holding the seat between 1980 and 1984.

Why I'm standing

I want to be a useful part of building a country that, at our core, puts people first ahead of private profits and we want Kiwis to have warm and secure housing, food on the table, and an environment that is looked after, as it looks after us.

About me

From my family background of social workers and unionists and my professional career I've developed the ability to meet people where they are, regardless of background or perspective, and speak to people through common values. I've seen how businesses and industry can be shaped to benefit people and the environment, not just markets. In blending these two experiences I aim to help build a country that does just that.

My priorities

  1. Affordable Lives: taxing the rich, lowering power, grocery, transport and other bills.
  2. Healthy Nature: ensuring you can drink, swim, and fish in our oceans and rivers.
  3. Local decision-making: ensuring your voice is heard.
