Utilities and services
Councils are responsible for a wide range of utilities and services that we all rely on, from rubbish and recycling to street cleaning. Councils are currently also responsible for managing waste water, storm water and drinking water infrastructure – the ‘Three Waters’. But that may be about to change, with central government seeking to shift the delivery of Three Waters services to four new larger entities, which could borrow enough to upgrade the country’s water infrastructure.

Measure the effectiveness of the council supplied, rates-funded rubbish collection service before rolling out into Rodney.
Complete the Kumeū floodway. Work with Auckland Emergency Management, Auckland Transport, community facilities and Healthy Waters to come up with a response plan to major flooding.
Reduce road-side litter which ends up in waterways. Allow volunteers to help with clean-ups and support them with equipment and disposal.
Continue to ensure our water systems are funded to enable them to continue to be safe and usable.
