Auckland Council

Waitematā and Gulf Ward
The Auckland Council makes strategic decisions for Auckland on public transport, urban planning, environmental protection and other big issues. The council provides funding to local boards to provide public services in their areas, and manages council-controlled organisations which provide infrastructure, such as public transport, water and sewerage. The councillors and mayor make up the governing body, which shares governance of Auckland Council with the 21 local boards. The governing body is made up of 20 councillors plus the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in Auckland). One councillor will be elected from your ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Auckland Council election.

Why I'm standing

Building on three years of service as the Waitematā and Gulf ward councillor and many more on the Waitematā Local Board, I ask for your support to keep working on the restoration of the Hauraki Gulf, community-led ecological restoration and pest control, better water quality, careful financial management, density done well that retains special character, transport choice, and climate action.

About me

As councillor my approach is collaborative, constructive, positive and effective. I have a track record of getting results for Waitematā and Gulf and for all Aucklanders. My work draws on productive relationships with local boards, mana whenua and an extensive network across all our communities. I choose evidence over rhetoric, listen widely, build consensus, and report back. I have the best attendance record on council and will continue working 100% focused on my role.

My priorities
  1. Climate action that delivers walkable, well-designed and greener neighbourhoods.
  2. Empowering communities to improve the safety, health, well-being and resilience of Aucklanders.
  3. Restoration of the Hauraki Gulf and the environment, pest control and increased biodiversity
