Why I'm standing

I have devoted 30 years of my life to service at the coal face – making a positive difference in our community. Lately I find myself increasingly drawn to governance, which is work I enjoy. I believe we need transformed change leadership, and that is my happy place.

About me

I have solid relationships in central and local government, and with iwi and community groups. I am known as a person who gets things done, and so people usually want to help me. I have relevant skills and qualifications, and a lifetime of understanding the needs of the community. The only constant is change right now, so the "business as usual" model is redundant. I also bring research skills, which means I question everything.

My priorities
  1. Climate change mitigation and adaption as the first and most important priority.
  2. Water is life – our water sources and waterways feed our drinking water. Protect our water.
  3. We need to rethink how we move around the district. Extreme events are impacting our roading.
