Bay of Plenty Regional Council
The Bay of Plenty Regional Council makes decisions about managing resources in the region, such as air, water, soil and the coastline. It also carries out plant and pest control, helps prepare for natural disasters, and is involved in regional transport. The council is made up of 14 councillors. Councillors are elected to represent constituencies (areas in the region). Two councillors will be elected from the Eastern Bay of Plenty constituency. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. I bring a fresher, younger approach to the council table with an emphasis on environment, community engagement and efficient business practice.
About me
I have spent the last 30 years studying, volunteering and working in environmental and community enhancement projects. I have lived, worked and raised my family in the Eastern Bay of Plenty and I will do my best to improve the environment and the lives of my community members.
My priorities
- Protect NZ water from foreign-owned water bottling, enhance biodiversity and increase biosecurity.
- Devolve council power so locals are empowered to manage/co-manage local resources and issues.
- Run a lean council in a prudent and business-like manner.
