Christchurch West/Ōpuna Constituency
Environment Canterbury is the regional council for Canterbury. It makes decisions about managing resources in the region, such as air, water, soil and the coastline. It also carries out plant and pest control, helps prepare for natural disasters, and is involved in regional transport. The council is made up of up to 16 councillors. 14 councillors are elected to represent constituencies (areas in the region), including two councillors from the Christchurch West/Ōpuna constituency. Up to two councillors can be appointed by Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Why I'm standing

I am a father and am compelled to help protect our unique natural and cultural heritage to provide a secure future for our children.

About me

I was born and raised in Canterbury and have been involved in community environmental action for over 20 years. I have a degree in Environmental Management, am a qualified Resource Management Act commissioner, and have worked across iwi, councils and the private sector.

My priorities
  1. Review and strengthen our Regional Plans to achieve higher environmental standards and outcomes.
  2. Increase funding and support for biodiversity and biosecurity programmes and projects.
  3. Continue to work with residents and industry to find solutions for dust issues related to quarrying.
