Far North District Council

Ngā Tai o Tokerau Māori Ward
The Far North District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 10 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). Four councillors will be elected from the Ngā Tai o Tokerau Māori ward. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Far North District Council election.

Why I'm standing

I am standing because I am concerned about the loss of our personal rights over land, water rights and what we can can and cannot do on our own properties. We are all equally effected by this, and I believe it is important for all people to have strong representation in these areas.

About me

I will stand against all central government interference in local council matters and in private properties. We are all equally effected by this, and I believe it is important for all people to have strong representation in these areas.

My priorities
  1. Reject Three Waters as it is currently being proposed.
  2. Stand up against the expansion of Significant Natural Areas and Outstanding Natural Landscape.
  3. Be transparent with the general public on what is happening at the council level.
