Mayor of Gore

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the district and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Gore District Council mayoral election.

Why I'm standing

I am enthusiastic about Gore District, and want to showcase what a well led council can do. I bring a positive outlook, energy and experience to steer the ship and build our District for the future. I believe Gore has so much to offer everyone – whether its adventure trail running, iceskating, or trout fishing, or events like wearable arts, country music, and regular theatrical productions. We have affordable housing and great businesses here too.

About me

I can govern well, build a strong team, and bring our council back to getting the basics done well. I'm relatively new to Gore, so I have to listen to and engage with my community and be a true representative of the people. I'm a business owner, community organiser and experienced public speaker. I have previously worked for a council, so I understand how they work, and I have been around politics my whole life.

My priorities
  1. Getting back to basics, putting vanity project funds back to three waters, roading and recycling.
  2. Partnering with agencies to benefit Gore and have an influential voice built on strong relationships.
  3. Showing New Zealand (and the world) the Gore District is a beautiful place to live, work and play.
