Why I'm standing

I feel strongly about the Horowhenua as my tūrangawaewae, being proudly Muaūpoko from my father Mario, and Ngāti Huia ki Matau and Ngāti Tūkorehe from my mother Helen. Our district is growing, and input from Māori is vital. It would be an honour and a privilege to serve as one of our first Māori Ward councillors.

About me

Over the last 30+ years, I have gained significant governance, work and life experience. Including working for Māori through whānau ora-type services; holding different roles in central government entities that service Māori; and largely volunteer service in hapū representation and in one of our district's oldest sports clubs. If elected to council, I will apply all of my experience to strategic and considered decision-making, in the best interests of Māori, and the Horowhenua District.
