Eastern Ward

The Hutt City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 12 councillors and the mayor. One councillor will be elected from the Eastern ward. The other councillors will be elected from other wards or by all voters in the city. Why I'm standing

I have chosen to stand because Hutt City has not had a democratic debate or consultation on Three Waters Reform. Additionally, our council has become dysfunctional with threats of law suits and claims of defamation within the council leadership. There is also a lack of financial discipline which has lead to a 30% rise in rates in the past three years. It is time for community minded people to step up. I have done that.

My priorities
  1. Restore financial discipline to stop excessive rates rises.
  2. Put people and decisions for Hutt City before party politics,
  3. Encourage further development of a healthy, vibrant culture to retain and attract council staff.
About me

I am proudly born and raised in Hutt City. I have been a resident for 34 years. I have broad experience in the plumbing, construction and energy industries. This gives me the knowledge to understand the issues involved in Three Waters reform and also the opportunities that arise with de-carbonisation. I also understand the issues involved with housing intensification.
