Hutt City Council

Eastern Ward
The Hutt City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 12 councillors and the mayor. One councillor will be elected from the Eastern ward. The other councillors will be elected from other wards or by all voters in the city. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Complete the re-construction of the Naenae Pool.

    Encourage the attraction of regional and national events to the Naenae Pool, Naenae Bowls Centre and Ricoh Sports Hub.

    Support the review to reduce Council fees to local sports club to encourage participation in community activity by our young people.

  • Continue the rejuvenation of Naenae with a new pool and public park, and conversion of the old Post Office into a multi-use community centre.

    Engage and fund local community groups to deliver community events celebrating Matariki and other occasions.

    Work with mana whenua and others to increase awareness of our city's rich history through place-naming, heritage projects and public art.
