Kaipara District Council

Otamatea General Ward
The Kaipara District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of nine councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). Two councillors will be elected from the Otamatea ward. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Kaipara District Council election.

Why I'm standing

My experience and background is of critical importance with the tsunami of changes bearing down on us, and the impending loss of our current mayor, deputy mayor and chief executive.

About me

I am the best candidate for this seat because I am the only one with any local government experience, both as a senior manager in the past, and a one-term councillor in the present. I think people in the community know me and trust my integrity and judgement.

My priorities
  1. Appoint a new chief executive.
  2. Ensure the proposed district plan is the best fit for Kaipara when it is publicly notified next year.
  3. Beware the Resource Management Act reforms! They will probably trigger our demise.
