Why I'm standing

Kāpiti is a fantastic place to live. I want to do my bit to ensure that it is the place we all want it to be in the years to come. Dee and I have been here 15 years, Raised a family, made great friends, developed businesses and become involved in community groups. I love what I see here, intend to be here a long time, and I got involved to help my community.

About me

I have 35 years experience in the hospitality industry. I am a people person, have managerial, entrepreneurial and business development/ownership skills. These are transferrable to this role. I committed to being Paraparaumu Ward Councillor full time three years ago. Why? To learn and understand the position and information as quickly as possible to then be an effective representative for my community. I listen, I learn, I interact, and I deliver. Vote Martin Halliday.

My priorities
  1. Being a part of, and developing a collaborative team that works for the betterment of our community.
  2. Housing. Sort housing and you sort a lot of community issues. Warm, healthy and fit for purpose.
  3. The regulatory aspect of consenting needs to be addressed. Kāpiti's reputation is appalling.
