Kāpiti Coast District Council

Waikanae Ward
The Kāpiti Coast District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 10 councillors and the mayor. Two councillors will be elected from the Waikanae ward. The other councillors will be elected from other wards or by all voters in the district. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Kāpiti Coast District Council election.

Why I'm standing

I'm a long-term resident of Waikanae and I am a strong advocate. My knowledge, experience and the ability to get things done will benefit the Waikanae Ward at the council table, focusing on the best delivery of core services. I undertake to represent the constituent parts with their challenges and opportunities – Te Horo, Peka Peka, Te Horo Beach, Waikanae Beach, Reikorangi, Waikanae Downs. I prioritise Waikanae's Library, upgrading Waikanae Beach and Reikorangi community halls.

About me

I served as Kāpiti's representative on the Greater Wellington Regional Council for nine years and gained significant experience which will be of benefit to Waikanae at the Kāpiti Council. This will be a substantially new and largely inexperienced council with so many standing down. I believe the experience I bring will be a valuable resource. I'm a regular attender of community board meetings and am aware of community concerns and issues for the Waikanae Ward.

My priorities
  1. Ensure we have strong advocacy at the council table.
  2. Sort out our social infrastructure, including our library, community halls, sports fields.
  3. Feed back to and from the community via community board and residents groups. I am available 24/7
