Masterton District Council

Masterton/Whakaoriori General Ward
The Masterton District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of eight councillors and the mayor. Four councillors will be elected from the Masterton/Whakaoriori ward. The other councillors will be elected from other wards or by all voters in the district. Why I'm standing

I believe Masterton has stagnated over past six years, we need to have a unified council to make progress. I have been labelled a "grumpy old man" by sitting council members. This grumpy old man has had enough and is prepared to put his own money where his mouth is and make a difference in a unified council.

About me

I have served on Friends of Queen Elizabeth Park for many years, liaising with council over park issues. Sometimes getting frustrated by lack of progress as the same items come up in minutes again and again. On the other hand it has enabled me to gain a better understanding of how council works. I was in a senior management role before retiring.

My priorities
  1. Water infrastructure.
  2. Sewage infrastructure.
  3. New town hall and library on present site.
