Te Aroha General Ward
The Matamata-Piako District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 12 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). Three councillors will be elected from the Te Aroha ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Promote the use of Te Aroha Domain for community events – Christmas in the park, market days. It's a greatly under utilised location.

    Ensure our approach to liquor licensing is done so with our communities safety, health and feedback in mind.

  • Provide equal funding, support, and facilities to art and culture as provided to sport.

    Ban liquor stores from the Main Street, especially ones painted bright orange; and even bright green!

    Provide encouragement and support for summer festivals that provide family entertainment.
