Utilities and services
Councils are responsible for a wide range of utilities and services that we all rely on, from rubbish and recycling to street cleaning. Councils are currently also responsible for managing waste water, storm water and drinking water infrastructure – the ‘Three Waters’. But that may be about to change, with central government seeking to shift the delivery of Three Waters services to four new larger entities, which could borrow enough to upgrade the country’s water infrastructure.

Encourage water and milk bottles recycling.
Expand the capacity of the streets to accommodate more cars.
Promote clean and sterilised water supply at domestic.
Push for more frequent street cleaning, especially in cycleways, reducing rubbish entering stormwater and polluting waterways.
Explore alternatives to untidy bin system which causes blocked footpaths and cycleways on rubbish day and is unsustainable as the city grows.
Advocate for ongoing improvement to water infrastructure to future proof system as city grows.
