Why I'm standing

I aspire to represent Māori voice on the Papakura Local Board and contribute to equitable outcomes that will benefit everyone in Papakura. My three pou/pillars are: grow our youth potential, strengthen our community relationships, care for our people and places. A tangible way to realise these pou is by actioning the narrative for Papakura: whānau – family-friendly, culturally rich, youthful, new metro zone (co-designed in 2018 by the Papakura community and the Papakura Local Board).

About me

My work background is in community service, whānau engagement, advocacy and support and I have been doing this mahi/work in Papakura for well over a decade. I serve as chair on a local primary, intermediate and high school collective board of trustees; trustee on our family land and business trust; a member of local community groups and networks, and I am connected to and work alongside local organisations, groups and agencies to support community-led solutions.

My priorities
  1. Grow our youth potential. We need to invest in a youth hub, a space to grow our leaders of tomorrow.
  2. Strengthen our community relationships. We need to support community-led solutions and leadership.
  3. Care for our people and places. We need to empower a safe, welcoming, and vibrant Papakura.
