Porirua City Council

Parirua Māori Ward
The Porirua City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the city). One councillor will be elected from the Parirua ward. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Why I'm standing

My tupuna settled here over 200 years ago because they saw the potential that this area had to provide for our people. I see that same potential for us all, ahakoa ko wai – ahakoa no whea.

About me

I am a long serving member of my iwi governance board which handles all of our iwi owned assets. I also serve as a local career firefighter with close to a decade of experience. I am comfortable in making hard decisions under pressure. I am also experienced in taking a tikanga based approach to decision making. I am well equipped to be the Māori voice for Porirua.

My priorities
  1. Mauirora: improving opportunities for the better wellbeing of our people.
  2. Taiora: progressing the wellbeing of the Taiao, especially Te Awarua o Parirua, with positive action.
  3. Auaha: being innovative in preparing Porirua for 2040 and beyond.
