Porirua City Council

Parirua Māori Ward
The Porirua City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 10 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the city). One councillor will be elected from the Parirua ward. This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Porirua City Council election.

Why I'm standing

Our new Māori seat on council needs an experienced representative with a strong voice. As a sitting Eastern Ward Councillor for Porirua City Council, I'm asking for your support to be that representative and to continue the mahi for our people. The new Māori ward is a first for our city. We need someone like me who can represent all Māori across our city, no matter your iwi or your suburb.

About me

I know the processes of council and how to get things done. I have excellent relationships, know the issues and will work with the right people in our community. I am Porirua born and bred. As the chair of the district licensing committee, I was able to deliver a decision that was a win for our community. This was achieved by truly listening to the community.

My priorities
  1. I will continue to support and respect the partnership that council has with mana whenua.
  2. To be a strong advocate for all Māori living in the Porirua community.
  3. Advocate for safe water supply, better roads and footpaths, health and safety and the cost of living.
