Mayor of Tasman District

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the district and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Tasman District Council mayoral election.

Why I'm standing

To make Tasman a better place to live and support people in their economic and business practices by changing council culture and making it easier to deal with.

About me

I am able to listen to different points of view. I am not swayed by money or money people. I want transparent representation and honesty within council. I have a good radar for dishonesty and lobbyists.

My priorities
  1. To push back on the Three Waters policy and join other councils that are fighting back.
  2. Protect property rights against forced Significant Natural Areas on property owners but to support regenerative processes.
  3. Bring about commonsense and look for ways for council to make money to get its debt under control.
