Tasman District Council

Motueka Ward
The Tasman District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also passes local regulations and makes decisions about infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage, and about the region’s resources, including water, soil and the coastline. The council is made up of 13 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). Three councillors will be elected from the Motueka ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Tasman District Council election.

Why I'm standing

I'm standing because I love Motueka, Kaiteriteri, Mārahau, and Riwaka. I truly believe our district has so much to offer to residents and everyone who visits us. I am passionate about making them desirable destinations to live and thrive. I want more opportunities for people, businesses, art and culture, sports and events that cater to all age groups. I'm standing because I know we can all have a better future.

About me

20+ years of business leadership, policy advice, and people-centred solutions, 9+ years of governance roles with both corporate and not-for-profit boards have allowed me to improve my strategic thinking and make informed decisions. Experience in negotiating the best outcomes. As a councillor, I will use these experiences to build productive, collaborative, and empowering relationships with our elected councillors and communities so that we can plan decisively and start building a better future together.

My priorities
  1. Make decisions in ways that support inclusion, climate action, vibrant businesses and well-being.
  2. Ensure a strong Motueka voice at the table. That decisions are transparent, relevant and trusted.
  3. Lead practices to build the resilience of our people, infrastructure, environment, and economy.
