Tasman District Council

Motueka Ward
The Tasman District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also passes local regulations and makes decisions about infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage, and about the region’s resources, including water, soil and the coastline. The council is made up of 13 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). Three councillors will be elected from the Motueka ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Tasman District Council election.

Why I'm standing

I was born in this region and my family have called Motueka home for generations. I am passionate about our region, have worked throughout this region and I am committed to the people here in the Tasman District. We are blessed with a region that simply has it all, but also burdened with the increasing level of council debt and constant rate rises. I want to be your voice and your advocate for your region.

About me

Being of service and holding governance roles are not new to me. I have served two terms as the Motueka Community Board Chair, served as a Board of Trustee on primary and secondary school's, held a number of committees and board appointments, both local, regional and nationally. I remain grounded, well connected and are absolutely passionate about people. I see the role of Councillor as an honour and a position of service to the community.

My priorities
  1. Be of service, to represent ratepayers and to advocate on their behalf.
  2. Commit to ensuring that Council is seen as a service to ratepayers, "how can I help you?".
  3. Advocate on behalf of ratepayers that ongoing rates increases must not be expected as a norm.
