The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the city and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. I have been on council for nine years and in that time I have learned a lot of the skills required to continue leading our city into the future. With a mild manor, strong will and friendly disposition I believe I can lead a cohesive group of independent minds around the Upper Hutt City Council table. Vote Blair for Mayor. #blairformayor
About me
As a self employed business person for the last 25 plus years, employing many staff and nine years on council, including chairing committees, I have a large range of experience to lead us into the future.
My priorities
- Stalling amalgamation while encouraging shared services.
- Ensure a strong voice within the regional groups to make sure we never end up the smallest sibling.
- Ensure and encourage safety and vibrancy in our city.
