Mayor of Upper Hutt

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the city and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Why I'm standing

Under my leadership, billions of dollars of investment have occurred in the last three years. This has occurred in difficult times and many cities have suffered. Not Upper Hutt. Under my leadership, we will continue to gain benefits from those investments.

About me

I was formerly a pharmacist and my wife and I owned several pharmacies in Upper Hutt. I also was a Senior Lecturer at the School of Pharmacy at the Central Institute of Technology. I was also Deputy Chair of the Hutt Valley DHB and Chair of the Finance and Audit committee of the combined Hutt Valley and Capital Coast DHB. I also have coached rugby at the local senior team and Wellington Provincial level.

My priorities
  1. Maintain the successful momentum Upper Hutt is experiencing under my leadership.
  2. Work with the region to make sure the Wellington region thrives. We need one another to thrive.
  3. Make sure we continue to deliver on our Long Term Plan and the projects within that programme.
