Waikanae Community Board

The Waikanae Community Board represents your local community and advocates to Kāpiti Coast District Council about local issues, including public transport and facilities such as libraries and parks. The board is made up of five members: four members elected by voters, and one councillor from the Kāpiti Coast District Council.  This is a single transferable vote (STV) election, so you vote by ranking the candidates on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Waikanae Community Board election.

Why I'm standing

I love Waikanae and as the newest member to the board (Dec 2021), I would like to continue to raise the profile of the town. I believe we have a wonderful place that is being piece by piece changed to look like many other towns, I want to retain our character as much as we can and have experience doing that.

About me

I have been a long time resident of the area, and have a broad skill set at a national and local level of government and locally with NGOs. I have run the Waikanae Dance School since 2008 and was part of the committee that reignited the Easter and Labour Weekend Markets with responsibility for the entertainment. I love the natural environment and want to continue to protect it.

My priorities
  1. Open a fit for purpose Waikanae library.
  2. Commence works on upgrading Waikanae Park.
  3. Establish a community led waste management initiative.
