Tamahere-Woodlands General Ward
The Waikato District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 13 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). Two councillors will be elected from the Tamahere-Woodlands General ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Support initiatives in Tamahere-Woodlands for community recreation (eg, extension of Matangi Recreational Reserve facilities).

    Support the work of the Waikato District Heritage Forum.

    Maintain access arrangements with Hamilton City for use of libraries and other city facilities (as necessary).

  • Maintain spending on and maintenance of public facilities to current standards as Council does good work on this.

    Ensure communities have good access to public facilities.

    Look at current liquor licensing and restrict licensing in low decile communities.
