Mayor of Waipā

The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the district and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Waipā District Council mayoral election.

Why I'm standing

Today, Waipā is facing a growing range of issues; "steady as we go" and "we just have to navigate" aren't the styles of leadership we need. I'm a leader with real vision and aspiration, capable of growing a stronger Waipā into the future.

About me

I'm not a politician, for this I won't apologise. I have a proven record of real-world delivery and achievement. For 20 years I served as Vice President, Director, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Executive Officer of significant international telephony software houses and have an extensive background in governance, strategies, value-development and team-development, and bring all these skills to bear in the role of Mayor of Waipā.

My priorities
  1. Create a more connected Waipā, socially, culturally, economically and physically.
  2. Progress Waipā rubbish transfer stations to reduce carbon emissions and dumping of rubbish.
  3. Champion a new Cambridge bridge; after many of years of failing to plan properly we must now move.
