Wairoa District Council

Wairoa General Ward
The Wairoa District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of six councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the district). Three councillors will be elected from the Wairoa (General) ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Why I'm standing

I am not happy with how things have been run for many years. I want to make a difference to my community.

About me

I stand up for those who are too shy to speak out for themselves. I do not like seeing disadvantaged people suffer. I have been in business with my husband for about 40 years providing an essential service to farmers in my district. I love to help people realise their true potential. I am involved with helping to feed and clothe homeless people.

My priorities
  1. Promote a healthy lifestyle, community awareness and support for all.
  2. Rate affordability and stability. Cutting costs inside council to reduce rating burden.
  3. Honesty and accountability of council and open public access to council on any matter.
