Local councils are responsible for land use planning under the Resource Management Act, which affects where and how new houses are constructed, as well as the design of cities and towns. In some areas, councils also provide housing to those who need it most.

Initiate and enact the town concept plans that have been created for our existing towns and villages.
Facilitate opportunities for landowners within towns to develop their land for housing.
Encourage our current town volunteer groups to beautify and improve our town streetscape and appeal to visitors, i.e. Legendary Te Kūiti and Project Piopio.
Release further council land for housing.
Increase engagement in the social housing space with Kāinga Ora.
