Whau Local Board

The Whau Local Board is one of 21 local boards in Auckland. The local board makes a plan for your area and decides on local issues, activities and facilities. It also oversees council services and facilities in your area, including libraries and parks. The local board is made up of seven members. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Whau Local Board election.

  • Build a new pool within the next three years, otherwise, the chairperson should resign if not all the members. A skate park for the teens.

  • Make the Avondale Racecourse a Heritage site and provide community access to a new local history museum of Whau historic sites.

    Prioritise the Avondale Aquatic Centre as a central sporting facility that utilises the potential of the Avondale Racecourse.

    Redevelop existing community centres in Blockhouse Bay, Kelston, and Avondale as performance and exhibition spaces for local groups.
