North Shore electorate

North Shore runs from Mairangi Bay in the north to Devonport in the south, and includes Milford, Takapuna, Campbells Bay and Stanley Point. The seat is currently held by National's Simon Watts, who won comfortably with a margin of 3,734. In 2020, Labour won the greatest share of party votes in North Shore – 41% to National's 34%. The seat was established in 1946 and National have held it since 1949.

Why I'm standing

I'm running because I believe we need vision and ambition for how New Zealand navigates the uncertain future ahead. Flooding on the Shore shows why action is so urgent. We need a genuine leader to get stuck in and make hard calls for all Kiwis. Chris Hipkins is that leader, and I'd be proud to help shape a positive future for our country and be a strong advocate for all the people of North Shore.

About me

I'm married and a new dad with a baby daughter living in Devonport. My roots on the Shore go deep, and I'm passionate about its future. I've founded start-ups, been a board director, studied business at Harvard and as a Fulbright Scholar at Columbia and I'm co-owner of Mr Whippy NZ. I'm proud to have been a diplomat for our country and led urgent climate and energy work at the UN with the Secretary-General.

My priorities

  1. Be the North Shore's number one advocate for you and for all people living there, and for climate action.
  2. Strong voice for social issues and inequality across education & health, child poverty and crime.
  3. Deal with local transport and the cost of living crisis, and foster economic opportunities for us all.
