I want to speak for the working class – both sexes, all races, nationalities, languages and faiths, all generations, local-born and immigrant. We need to rebuild our organisations, especially the unions, and we need our own political voice that will speak for our common causes, and build our unity and strength. We need a party that puts the interests of the wage-workers first, not those of the bankers, landlords, property speculators, and supermarket monopolies.
I have many years of experience as an industrial worker – in meat works, car assembly, food industries and others. That includes experience of hard-fought strikes, and unions controlled by their members – things we haven't seen for a very long time. The key to fighting our way out of the deepening crisis is to recognise that all workers have much in common. We have nothing in common with the wealthy exploiters and their parties.
