Why I'm standing
I am proud to be standing again for Labour because I believe every New Zealander, regardless of their background or family situation, deserves the opportunity to realise their full potential and participate in their community and society. New Zealanders need a government that's on their side and in it for them – and that's what Labour offers.
About me
Born in Westport and now living in the Tasman district I entered Parliament in 1993. I bring my considerable political experience, including Ministerial roles, and understanding of this electorate. As Minister for Trade and Export Growth, I'm proud of playing a major role in growing an export-led economy with a strong global reputation, leading negotiations for new trade deals, opening doors for exporters across the region and boosting local economies.
My priorities
- Make sure all New Zealanders get a fair deal and a chance to realise their full potential.
- Contribute to the growth of an export-led economy with a strong global reputation.
- Help turn New Zealand into a centre of excellence for sustainable agriculture and technology.
