Auckland Council

Albany Ward
The Auckland Council makes strategic decisions for Auckland on public transport, urban planning, environmental protection and other big issues. The council provides funding to local boards to provide public services in their areas, and manages council-controlled organisations which provide infrastructure, such as public transport, water and sewerage. The councillors and mayor make up the governing body, which shares governance of Auckland Council with the 21 local boards. The governing body is made up of 20 councillors plus the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in Auckland). two councillors will be elected from your ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Auckland Council election.

Why I'm standing

I believe that the generation currently in positions of power are extremely out of touch with what our generation needs and expects from our governing bodies. I will put my name forward to work on creating a future we can be proud of and leave for our children. I find the current state of affairs frustrating, knowing that our city and people have so much more potential than what we can show the world currently.

About me

I am passionate about community and justice, with a deep respect for the working people that keep our city running. I am an organiser, motivator and willing to shine a light on the roadblocks and obstacles standing in the way of us creating the future we deserve. I take no corporate donations, I take no donations of any sort, I'm not beholden to any private entity and so I will advocate for only the public.

My priorities
  1. Establish fast and free public transport to help connect the city and improve economic activity.
  2. Introduce more indoor third spaces as places for people to freely meet and socialise.
  3. Increase community engagement and resilience through events and direct support of volunteer groups.
