Albert-Eden-Puketāpapa Ward
The Auckland Council makes strategic decisions for Auckland on public transport, urban planning, environmental protection and other big issues. The council provides funding to local boards to provide public services in their areas, and manages council-controlled organisations which provide infrastructure, such as public transport, water and sewerage. The councillors and mayor make up the governing body, which shares governance of Auckland Council with the 21 local boards. The governing body is made up of 20 councillors plus the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in Auckland). two councillors will be elected from your ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper. Compare the candidates and their policies to decide who to vote for in the Auckland Council election.

Why I'm standing

I am running because I believe Auckland can be the best city in the world. We need to be making the most of our beautiful environment, on an isthmus between two harbours with our volcanic mountains and great beaches. I want to see a Tāmaki Makaurau where our young people feel like there is a future for them, where it is easy to get to our natural wonders, and where everyone is housed.

About me

I've served two terms on the Puketāpapa Local Board and two terms as Chair of the Manukau Harbour Forum. I've also worked as a high school teacher, community engagement advisor and campaigner. I have years of experience in consensus building, working with people from different political persuasions and areas. I hold a Masters in Public Policy, and I know how council works, and how to get things done.

My priorities
  1. Protect and restore the environment, including harbours and waterways that link communities.
  2. Build more houses close to transport hubs and existing infrastructure.
  3. Invest in public transport, walking and cycling so that roads flow freely.
