Why I'm standing

I am standing for the Kohi Māori ward to ensure our people's voices are not only heard but actively shape decisions that affect our future. I want to protect our whenua, promote cultural values, environmental stewardship and strengthen the resilience and wellbeing of our communities. I want to champion genuine representation, partnerships and opportunity. I hope to honour our ancestors, empower rangatahi, protect democracy and help build a Bay of Plenty region where Māori aspirations guide positive change.

About me

I am a researcher and kaitiaki based in Whakatāne. I bring a unique combination of analytical skills, evidence-based decision-making and a deep understanding of the issues we face. I have a professional background that enables me to critically evaluate policies and communicate complex ideas clearly, ensuring that constituents are informed and engaged in local governance. My professional practice has given me a collaborative approach to problem-solving, and I am deeply invested in supporting educational, environmental and economic opportunities for our rohe.

My priorities
  1. Protect biodiversity by restoring habitats, controlling pests and engaging communities to support native species.
  2. Empower rangatahi by increasing access to education, jobs and leadership to secure the Bay of Plenty's vibrant future.
  3. Expand cycleways and transport links to connect communities, improve health and cut emissions in the Bay of Plenty.
