The Central Hawke's Bay District Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of nine councillors and the mayor. three councillors will be elected from the Ruataniwha ward. The other councillors will be elected from other wards or by all voters in the district. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Continue to upgrade and maintain parks and playgrounds as they are vital assets.

    Support local sports clubs and grounds to encourage sports participation in CHB.

    Create opportunities for events to be run in CHB.

  • Charge $2 admission for parks, pools, museums, libraries, community halls and toilets over and above current pricing with homeless exempted.

    Privately sponsor community events with no council involvement until $60 million debt is cleared and charge for using facilities.

    Oppose bottle stores and when forced by central government to accept them, effectively surcharge and impose much bureaucracy.
