Why I'm standing

Christchurch can be a great city to live in, but only if it's a great city for everyone. We've rebuilt after a devastating earthquake, and now is the time to make sure we don't leave anyone behind. We need a city of full employment, of livable incomes, that is affordable and safe for working people and their families. We need more ambitious political thinking around the council table.

About me

I have significant experience as a public servant and that gives me insight into the purpose of council being to serve its residents. My advocacy as a trade unionist, including the ability to negotiate and make compromises across the table. Most importantly, I have the energy and commitment to make Christchurch a city that works for working people and their families.

My priorities
  1. Keep and expand public assets. Council should be backing our own city and retain strategic control.
  2. Intervene in the housing market in all possible ways to make Christchurch a more affordable city.
  3. Establish a local music and nightlife policy to make Christchurch the cultural powerhouse of NZ.
