Coastal Ward
The Christchurch City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 16 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the city). one councillor will be elected from the Coastal ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.     Improve road safety and accessibility with better crossings, lighting and design that make it easier for everyone to get around.

    Create walking and cycling routes that link schools, shops and parks, supporting safer, more connected communities.

  • Keep advocating for overdue earthquake-damaged road and path repairs including New Brighton Road and Pages Road and Anzac Drive bridge replacements.

    Advocate for simple, sensible solutions for repairing and linking existing cycleway network, with no more over-engineered cycleways.

    Advocate to retain much needed accessible and general car parking options for all residents and businesses and add more where required.
