The Christchurch City Council provides local services and facilities, such as public transport, rubbish and recycling, libraries, parks, and recreation facilities. It also makes decisions about building and planning, local regulations, and infrastructure, such as water supply and sewerage. The council is made up of 16 councillors and the mayor. Councillors are elected to represent wards (areas in the city). one councillor will be elected from the Heathcote ward. This is a first past the post (FPP) election, so you vote by ticking the name of your preferred candidate on your ballot paper.   • Consider and treat council employees as the most valuable resource the council has to offer.

    Proactively engage with the people giving feedback and ensure internal processes reflect this rather than just asking for feedback.

    Encourage public meetings that connect with all sectors of the community to ensure it is not just the loudest sectors that are heard.

  • Get more services delivered locally at the community board level so residents are in control of their own communities.

    Maintain a Living Wage for council cleaners, security guards and library assistants.

    Push back on Wellington interference in Christchurch issues.
