Why I'm standing

Canterbury has wonderful, diverse ecosystems and landscapes. However, our precious, internationally rare, braided rivers and their aquifers are in trouble. The un-swimmable rivers, poisonous drinking water and financing methane emission obligations are all industry costs passed onto present and future Cantabrians. We must have leaders who will work for change. With my immense concern for Canterbury's future, my wealth of environmental knowledge and experience, I have no choice but to stand to serve.

About me

Raised on a mixed mid-Canterbury farm, I understand Canterbury's rural and urban issues. As a landscape architect for over 30 years, I have worked on large, complex environmental and transport projects in both central and regional government. Inherently a problem solver, integrating stakeholder, science, and community wisdom, I understand how natural physical, ecological, land use, economic, and cultural outcomes are all interconnected. With integrity, knowledge and commitment, I am standing because I care about Canterbury's future.

My priorities
  1. Protect the water quality of rivers and aquifers for ecosystem and human health.
  2. Implement spatial planning with appropriate land use to reduce adverse effects of floods, drought and wildfire.
  3. Provide affordable and efficient public transport that caters for the future transport needs of Cantabrians.
