Greater Wellington Regional Council
The Greater Wellington Regional Council makes decisions about managing resources in the region, such as air, water, soil and the coastline. It also carries out plant and pest control, helps prepare for natural disasters, and is involved in regional transport. The council is made up of 14 councillors. Councillors are elected to represent constituencies (areas in the region). one councillor will be elected from the Wairarapa constituency. Why I'm standing
I'm standing for the Greater Wellington Regional Council because Wairarapa needs a champion, someone who cuts through bureaucracy and focuses on real outcomes. Wellington-centric decisions have sidelined rural communities, underfunded flood resilience, and ignored farming and transport realities. Ratepayers are paying more and getting less. The numbers don't lie, and the results don't justify the spend. I believe in leaner, smarter governance that listens, delivers, and puts Wairarapa first, where it belongs.
About me
I'll be a strong representative because I combine strategic thinking with deep local knowledge. I've challenged wasteful spending, exposed inefficiencies, and advocated for practical, community-led solutions. I understand the realities of farming, transport, and flood resilience because I have worked alongside those affected. I'm not here to play politics, I'm here to deliver results. Wairarapa deserves leaner, smarter governance that listens, acts, and puts our region first. That's exactly what I'm committed to doing.
My priorities
- Restore gravel removal to cut flood risk, lower roading costs and empower community-led solutions.
- Support farmers with practical policies, less compliance costs and more input from those on the ground.
- Develop focused transport planning that improves connectivity and delivers fair regional investment.
