The mayor is the leader of the council. Their job is to promote a vision for the district and lead the development of the council’s plans, policies and budget. The mayor appoints the deputy mayor, establishes committees for particular topics, and appoints chairs for those committees. Why I'm standing
It is a privilege and honour to have been your mayor for the last 6 years. It is a role that I take incredibly seriously and believe that I have contributed significantly in that time. There are many challenges to face over the next three years and I believe that my business and governance experience will continue to add value in ensuring Horowhenua remains a fantastic to live work and play in.
About me
I believe I am a genuine and authentic person that will continue to be a positive and committed leader in the mayoral role as I have done for the last 6 years. I'm committed to making decisions that balance immediate needs with long term benefits but ensuring they are in the best interests of the community. I will continue to represent Horowhenua in the best possible light and build strong relationships with all our stakeholders.
My priorities
- Strive to ensure that ratepayers money is spent wisely and effectively.
- Ensure that the opportunities provided by the construction of O2NL are realised.
- Make good decisions that have a positive long term impact on the future of this district.
